Medigus Ltd (TASE: MDGS) announced today that Medigus was selected to supply miniature video cameras and advanced video processing equipment to NASA. The scope of the order is approximately NIS 0.5 million. The company's offer was accepted after NASA had published details of its requirements and sought offers from other suppliers.

The cameras were ordered within the framework of NASA's RRM – Robotic Refueling Mission, an ongoing technology development platform installed at the International Space Station (ISS) which demonstrates and tests tools, technologies and techniques used to robotically service and refuel satellites in orbit. The platform was delivered to the ISS during the last mission of the space shuttle Atlantis. For further information, see the following external link: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/research/news/RoboticRefueling_Mission.html

To the company's knowledge, NASA proposes to deliver supplemental hardware during 2013, including the camera-equipped VIPIR – Visual Inspection Poseable Invertebrate Robot, to demonstrate inspection of the internal systems of satellites through a borescope with illumination and miniature video cameras in its tip.

Pursuant to the order, Medigus CMOS cameras with a 1.2mm diameter will be supplied to NASA for the VIPIR project. These cameras – together with Medigus' second-generation 0.99mm diameter cameras – are the smallest video cameras in the world. The cameras were developed within the Biomedical Photonics consortium under the auspices of the Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Industry Trade and Labor.

In addition to supplying cameras and video processing equipment, the company agreed to collaborate with NASA and its subcontractors in adapting the cameras for use in a space platform.

Medigus is proud of this achievement, which was made possible by the company's vast experience in the field of miniature video cameras and video processing technologies, as well as its extensive know-how in the field of medical endoscopy.
